Materials & Plating

925 sterling silver

Every Qilver piece is 92.5% pure silver alloyed with 7.5% copper for strength, the international sterling standard, and carries the 925 stamp inside the band or on the post. Pure silver is too soft for jewellery; sterling holds a shape, a stone and a polish.

18K Gold Vermeil

Our gold pieces are the same sterling silver with a layer of 18-karat gold over it. You get the colour of gold on a solid-silver body, at a fraction of the weight-price of gold. The plating is covered by Lifetime Plating; care tips are on the care page.

Oxidised silver

A controlled darkening of the silver surface, polished back on the ridges so the design reads in light and shadow. It is a finish, not a coating, and wears in rather than off.

Duotone

Some pieces pair sterling silver and 18K Gold Vermeil in one design. Care for each part as you would that finish.

Stones

Stone type is listed on each product page. We name stone colours as they appear and never describe a stone as something it isn't.

What we don't do

  • No "gold tone" or brass bodies sold as silver.
  • No hidden alloys.
  • No stones described as natural unless they are.

Weights and dimensions on product pages are approximate; small variation is part of handmade work.
