Jewellery Care
Silver and gold last longest when they're worn and looked after. A minute of care keeps a Qilver piece bright for years.
Every day
- Last on, first off. Put jewellery on after perfume, lotion, sunscreen and hairspray, and take it off first.
- Keep it dry. Take it off to shower, swim, sleep and work out.
- Store it alone. Keep each piece in its Qilver pouch or box, away from air and moisture, so nothing scratches.
Sterling silver
Silver likes being worn; skin oils slow tarnish. If it dulls, rub gently with the polishing cloth from your box. Avoid silver dips and chemical cleaners.
18K Gold Vermeil
The gold is a thin layer of 18-karat gold over sterling silver. Wipe it with a soft, dry cloth only. Never use silver polish or an abrasive cloth on gold pieces: it takes the gold off. Wear is covered by Lifetime Plating.
Oxidised silver
The dark finish sits in the grooves on purpose. Wipe the high points only; polishing the whole piece lifts the black.
Stones and pearls
Wipe stones with a damp soft cloth and dry them at once. Keep pearls and enamel away from perfume, water and ultrasonic cleaners.
Adjustable rings
To adjust, squeeze or open gently from the sides, once or twice. Metal doesn't like being bent back and forth, so set it and leave it.
